Embracing a New Chapter: A Personal Update and My Journey Forward

For the past nine years, I’ve had the incredible privilege of sharing my life with all of you through Table for Two. From daily recipes to personal anecdotes and glimpses into my world, this platform has truly been an open book. With such an open lifestyle comes the understanding that eventually, there are moments of profound change that must also be shared. It’s with a mixture of trepidation and a deep sense of clarity that I finally sit down to publish this post, a draft I’ve opened and closed countless times over the past few months, always searching for the elusive “right time.” The truth, as I’ve come to learn, is that there is never a perfect moment to share deeply personal news, especially when it involves significant life shifts.

While I firmly believe that I don’t owe anyone an explanation for the private facets of my life, the constant stream of direct messages on Instagram and the recurring questions across every Story have made it clear that addressing these swirling uncertainties is necessary. It’s time to lay these questions to rest, not just for you, but for my own peace of mind. Your curiosity, though sometimes overwhelming, stems from a place of care and connection, and for that, I am truly grateful. It is this bond that compels me to share an update that is both significant and deeply personal, allowing us to move forward together into a new and exciting phase.

So, with a heavy heart but an unwavering gaze towards the future, I confirm what many of you have suspected: Jason and I are no longer together. This decision, while incredibly difficult, marks a new path for both of us. It is a transition that has been met with much contemplation, sorrow, and ultimately, a commitment to what is best for our individual journeys.

Moving forward, I kindly request your understanding and respect for our privacy during this time. To protect my personal space, Jason’s privacy, and the integrity of our individual lives, I will not be fielding questions or comments about the details of our separation. I appreciate your support in honoring this boundary as we navigate this new chapter independently.

The Bittersweet Farewell to My Beloved Winston

Another question that has frequently surfaced, often reopening a fresh wound, concerns my sweet dog, Winston. I must address this directly: no, Winston is no longer with me. This was arguably the hardest decision I have ever had to make in my life, one that still brings tears to my eyes as I write and re-read these words. Initially, I didn’t clarify his whereabouts, leading to many concerned messages. Let me be absolutely clear: I would never, under any circumstances, “give away” Winston to just anyone. He is with his dad, Jason, and thriving in their established routine.

The decision for Winston to stay with Jason was born out of a deep sense of selflessness and an unwavering commitment to Winston’s well-being. My current lifestyle, especially with the changes I’m navigating and my future plans, simply isn’t conducive to providing him with the consistent stability, routine, and care he deserves. To keep him with me would have been unfair to him, compromising his quality of life, and that was a compromise I was unwilling to make for my own comfort. He is doing exceptionally well with Jason, settling into a happy and comfortable routine, and honestly, knowing he is happy and well-cared for brings me immense peace, despite the profound heartache of his absence.

You all know how much I adored Winston; he was truly my entire world for four wonderful years. He was more than a pet; he was my constant shadow, my confidant, and the source of boundless love and companionship during times when I felt I had very little. Day and night, he was by my side. He’d patiently lie by my feet in the kitchen as I experimented with new recipes for the blog, or curl up next to my photography boards during photoshoots, seemingly supervising every shot. His gentle presence in my home office while I worked from home, or his protective watch from the foot of my bed until I drifted off to sleep, are memories I will forever cherish.

True love, in its purest form, often demands selflessness. Even understanding this profound truth, and knowing deep down that this was the absolute best decision for Winston’s happiness and health, it doesn’t diminish the immense difficulty of letting him go. I will forever miss his soft nudge against my leg, his eager greetings, and every single thing about having him as my shadow. My greatest hope is that he understands that this painful choice was made purely out of love for him, believing that his quality of life would be immeasurably better in his current, stable environment.

A New Horizon: Selling the House and Moving On

Finally, another common question that has surfaced in my DMs, particularly with the appearance of packing boxes in my Instagram Stories, is, “Are you selling the house?” and “Are you moving?” The answer to both is a resounding yes. It has been a whirlwind process! The house went under contract with two compelling offers within just two days of being on the market. In a rather comical twist of fate, I found myself signing critical papers while on vacation in Mexico, a scenario that perfectly encapsulates the rapid and sometimes unexpected pace of life’s transitions. So yes, that pretty much confirms the next big step: I am indeed moving.

The decision to sell the house, filled with countless memories and milestones, was not taken lightly. However, as one chapter closes, another begins, and moving to a new space symbolizes a fresh start, a clean slate, and an opportunity to create new memories and experiences. While the process of packing up a home and preparing for such a significant move can be emotionally taxing, there’s also an undeniable sense of liberation and anticipation for what lies ahead. This new physical space will serve as a backdrop for the next phase of my journey, reflecting the internal shifts I’ve experienced.

Lessons Learned, Growth Embraced, and a Future of Happiness

While this entire period has undeniably been “shitty” at times – filled with heartache, uncertainty, and a fair share of tears – I can genuinely say that it has also been a powerful catalyst for growth and self-discovery. Every challenge has presented a lesson, every tear shed has contributed to a deeper understanding of myself and my resilience. I’ve learned invaluable lessons about strength, adaptability, and the profound importance of self-care during times of upheaval. This journey has been a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to navigate pain and emerge stronger on the other side.

Ultimately, in the end, despite all the hurdles, I am very happy. This isn’t a superficial happiness, but a deep-seated peace that comes from making difficult but necessary decisions, embracing change, and looking forward to a future filled with new possibilities. It’s a happiness born from knowing that I have honored my truth and am walking forward with integrity and hope. Thank you for being here, for your understanding, and for continuing to be a part of my story. I can’t wait to share all the new adventures with you on Table for Two.
